Im normally not one for New Years resolutions. Theyre so easily - TopicsExpress

Im normally not one for New Years resolutions. Theyre so easily and inevitably broken. Id like to say Ill work out, eat better, and get in shape this year, but mindset is a huge part of that commitment and, frankly, I dont think Im there yet. Time may tell. So, in lieu of making any resolutions that Ill most assuredly let fall by the wayside in a month or so, I intend to make a couple promises...both to myself and to any and all reading this. One...Im going to find an agent and/or publisher to sell my novel Breaking Strain at long last, and no later than the start of summer. Failing this, Im going to self publish. It took me far too long to complete this book and I cant stand sitting on a completed manuscript like this. One way or another, Breaking Strain will be on its way to seeing print inside of six months. Two...I will complete TWO full-length (Im estimating 100,000+ words each) manuscripts this calendar year. I have sufficient groundwork laid for two novel-length stories (one an original work of my own and the other an old collaboration with Max Jazzhands Burtrum that weve decided to revisit) that I know I can complete if I just put in the time and effort. These books may not be shoppable, necessarily, but theyll be completed, cogent stories ready for editing and possibly even Beta reading before the start of 2016. Three...Im going to put in a lot of work on a collaborative project with my brother Matt Shepherd. Its his brainchild so Ill allow him to elaborate if he so wishes. I will say that its a pretty cool idea and I look forward to producing something tangible. Such is my manifesto or declaration of intent or what have you. Feel free to call me out on any of this stuff should I fail to pull it off. And Im spent.
