Im not a fan of organized religion. Going to church is very hard for me socially, mentally and spiritually. I was raised in church. I was raised with a moral belief of an All-knowing Omnipotent God. If there is a God, I prefer the Personal Relationship belief; the whole guiding spirit inside you who impresses upon your heart if you are doing something He doesnt want you to do. Honestly, its an emotional/feeling guided lifestyle so its really not perfect, but what religion really is? Isnt that what religion is for? To bring you a feeling of hope? At Allumbaugh, they teach us that we answer to a Higher Power - be that a god, a spirit, an ideal, or a moral value system. Its about accountability. Last move, I wasnt ready to face what was in the box I just finished sorting. 8 Years ago, a 14 year old girl named Mandy was honored in her churches and in magazines for her work in her community. She passed out magazines about God, taught neighbor kids English, and baby sat kids for low income mothers who just needed a break. As I threw away old Tracts, kids coloring pages, pledge forms, letters, and cards I came to understand more about myself. Does God care that Im Hurting? read a title. I realized I didnt care if God knew or cared. Who am I to dictate how others feel about me? Ive wasted too much of my life already trying to do what makes Others happy. Theres one verse that always gave me a sense of hope and tonight I think about it. 1 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, He is a new Creation. The old has gone, the new has come! I dont pretend to live a perfect life. I dont let one writing that is centuries old and factually inaccurate dictate my life. My Jesus, my Christ, my Spiritual Beliefs have led me TO the person that I am today. If this whole God thing is as real as Id like to allow it to be in my life, then I am simply moving forward to embrace the New Creation that I am and will become. And that new person, doesnt owe Anyone anything. I am accepted, because I accept myself. I am respected, because I respect myself.
