Im not much of a baseball fan, but I appreciate when people do - TopicsExpress

Im not much of a baseball fan, but I appreciate when people do anything at the highest level, and also appreciate what this seemingly trivial pastime has done for our country. Yesterday, Derek Jeter played his last home game as a Yankee. It occurred to me that probably no one since Lou Gehrig was as loved by this great city some 75 years ago. Both of these guys exhibited grace & thankfulness for their success that is uncommon, but greatly appreciated by those who observe it, especially in an era of thug & criminal athletes. Jeter is a worthy torchbearer in sharing some of the most untouchable Yankee records along with maybe the greatest Yankee, Lou Gehrig. I love quotes, I love speeches by great people. One of my favorite groups of few words, when looking for inspiration come from Mr. Gehrig, days after he was told that in spite of just recently being known as the greatest athlete on the planet, the most durable man on the planet, that he was soon to die. Im not a baseball fan, Im not a Yankee fan, but Im happy to say, that I am a Derek Jeter fan. youtube/watch?v=_SKyfGK9brs
