Im not sure where we are at on our Wednesday night studies. But I am reading in 2 Samuel . I think the key verse, concerning Absaloms rebellion is 17:4 , where it says, for the Lord had determined to frustrate the good advice of Ahithophel in order to bring disaster on Absalom. I never want to find myself on the wrong side, with the Lord against me! I like Davids stories. 1 commentary says, the greatness of David is not in his perfection, but in his willingness to face his sin and to return wholeheartedly to God. Through David we learn fresh lessons about the grace of God, and we are reminded that you and I are invited to come boldly to the Lord too, that he may meet us, and our needs. Even more, David stands before us as a testimony to Gods love and His goodness. Gods grace touched David. He forgave Davids sins and enabled him for the task to which he was called. Through the Holy Spirit who has come to dwell within, God has provided strength to enable us to meet lifes challenges, fully equipping us for whatever life we are called to.
