Im not trying to be snarky. Ive seen many of these selfies show up on my FB newsfeed and I believe the intention behind them truly come from a good place. But it still nagged at me, because how is a face with no makeup supporting cancer in a real, tangible way? Maybe Im being oversensitive because I just lost my mom, she had breast cancer, was ok for 5 years, then it came back and tore her fallen body apart with a vengeance. So before I do something I think, how would this have helped my mom? Would she approve? Just like that campaign when women were baring their tops in support, she was appalled. So while I think the intentions are good, I think this lady makes a great point. I also think that even best intentions dont always make something ok. I support cancer patients, but there are endless foundations to financially support, races to run that give money back, people that you come across battling cancer who you can bless in a personal way. Im not trying to be snarky or be a Debbie downer, or start big controversy, or a big FB debate; Im just sharing my position on this new fad.
