Im not trying to rag on civil defense per se more than the home owners, but I would think part of civil defense job should be to assist landowner clear and clean their lots so that puna citizens dont have to inhale toxic fumes from lava burning toxic stuff, like this tire fire...they have known for months that the lava was going to go where it is now...hopefully we can learn the lesson and civil defense can assist in moving toxic stuff out of the lava flow path...if civil defense will not consider diverting lava, perhaps we can at least divert the toxic things out of the lavas way.
