Im overwhelmed. My mom was transferred from a rehabilitation hospital in Dayton to one here in Westerville. The two facilities are operated by the same company. She is now 5 minutes from my home, which is a big bonus. That said, we walked in her room tonight, and she was wet. She had no pants on. Her bed and everything on her bed was wet, and there were two gowns draped over the foot of her bed that were wet. By wet, I mean soaked in urine. Her call light was on. We visited a bit, and we waited, but no one came. The room smelled like urine. I began looking around the room, and I was completely disgusted. The walls had this brown stuff splattered on various places....you could see where it had just run down the walls....it was just generally filthy. Im just getting home from my visit. Im completely speechless about the state of this facility and the fact that there was one nurse and 3 aides for a huge long hall of rooms full of patients. No matter how awesome each staff member may be, they are only human, and its impossible for 4 people to take care of so many patients in a timely manner. That said, Im making it my mission to get my mom out of this facility. Im sharing a few pictures of the many I took of the walls in her room....there is no excuse for this facility to look like this...
