Im perplexed (and slightly head-achy) by the recent discussion of some of my new friends that sharing information on life or death environmental issues is a waste of time. I serious believe it has an effect, many people have messaged me and thanked me for raising their awareness, and are now actively doing things about the issues. It also depends on your audience, IMHO, staying with a group of like minded friend is easy--reaching out to people you dont know (bite me fb rules committee ;) ) and holding intelligent, civilized, discussion with those sitting on the fence or those who may think differently is extremely valuable in my eyes. Some of the same people (or their friend-that I hope to make my friends) are of the opinion that activism and protest on such issues are a waste of time--I would agree when it comes to minor displays--but large displays CAN change things (for instance: if the 5k people who say theyll be at APD rally and march Tuesday night really DO show up even the MSM would have to cover it and then city would have to really think about seriously changing its ways, before people like the Mayor and CAO are run out of town on a rail---not advocating ANY violence, simply suggesting they may need to be removed from office ASAP-under some clause, any clause: endangering the public health [cause being shot to death can really mess up ones health]), etc.... Back to the environment I seriously believe its important to be aware of these issues, especially with those who would be our direct master and not care about human life or the life of the planet--like the Koch Bros, for instance who would relish indentured servitude, have trie to segregate a model school system, dumb down education, enact voter suppression and stand your ground laws while destroying any control a woman has over her own body. Not to mention their dreams of processing, shipping and helping to burn enough real fossil fuel crap to kill all human life on the planet. (Sorry if I ramble, but, at least, my headache is gone... ;) )
