Im pretty passionate about this. The Today Show just did a piece somewhat defending the use of leashes on kids so I was interested, thinking the blog they mentioned would change/challenge my brain a bit - it didnt. (ow.ly/viur3 ) She talks about using leashes instead of chasing after her kids (for their safety), and how 14 month olds arent fond of being corralled. Shouldnt we instead be teaching our kids not to venture away from us & why? My girls learned early on that my grip was stronger than their wiggly toddler hands & that for their safety, this mom wasnt going to let go. Id love to hear your pro-leash arguments because theres nothing cooler than thinking youve got a pretty solid stance on something just to have someone present an angle you hadnt considered. The one exception I would think would be if the child is hearing-impaired or if there is some sort of disability either in parent or child, making things more challenging in a crowded environment.
