Im probably not going to receive a lot of likes on this but Im just doing what Im told. This message was given to me a few minutes ago. It took me a LONG TIME to tithe to the church. A long time. One of the biggest obstacles I would think about is all the money grubbing churches I read about. I would think about how much the pastor was making, the seemingly grandiose lifestyle. Especially with the big churches....and I would think about how much money I was making and how I couldnt afford to give ten percent. However, Ive been tithing for a while now and not only have I seen increase financially but its another hurdle that doesnt stand between me and God. Tithing was never about money. God doesnt need your money. Hes the Creator of the universe. Lets be serious. Its a test of obedience. He knew the currency in the old days was oxen, sheep and today its cash. Its what makes the world go around. Its a test to see if you love your money over your obedience to Him. And the reason why its a requirement is because of the stronghold it has on society. Money is the very thing that everyone needs. So how bad do you need it, want it? Are you willing to part with a tenth of it even though its His anyway. Who do you think blessed you with the opportunity to get it :). Its a test of obedience. Break that stronghold and you will have nailed one of the deepest obstacles, man will ever know. And.....you will receive a greater blessing than the one you gave. The decision is yours :)
