Im quoted in this story from todays DomPost about the legality of Australias sending asylum seekers back to a place where theyre likely to be persecuted. I dont consider the assesment made by the Australian authorities to be anywhere near the standard acceptable for considering whether asylum claims are legitimate. Im disappointing that, as Australias actions become more and more repugnant, that there seems to be no line they can cross that will have the National government distance themselves from the use of Manus and Nauru, or these at sea screening procedures.
