Im reading the book Big Russ and me, father and son: lessons of life by Tim Russert the former moderator of Meet the Press. Ive had it for eight years and have been reluctant to read it because it was one of the last books my father read before he died of cancer in 2006. Russert was extremely close to his father as I was with mine and I guess I was afraid of what ever emotions the book might invoke. after finishing outliers by Malcolm Gladwell (all of his books are really good) I still wanted to read something with substance and wasnt in the mood to re-read any of my Thompson books so I picked up Big Russ and Me. One hundred pages in and I feel closer to my father than I have since he passes. Russerts stories remind me of ones my father and his father (whom I am named after) told about the 1940s and 50s and the greatest generation ever. I havint cried once but have laughed and smiled at the turn of ever page. I miss and love you dad. RIP Mr Russert and thank you.
