Im really disappointed in modern computer gaming in that many of the top games are not even considered for PC release despite the technical merits of the format. Back in the days of machines like the C64, Spectrum, Amiga and ST, computer games were taken far more seriously than now. Many top games either appeared first on computer formats or even exclusively and others appeared side by side with versions on Sega, Nintendo or Atari consoles. The PC only seems to be a major format now for strategy and FPS games. Dozens of top titles arent released on PC and compared to the days of the Amiga, it is disappointing. It could be down to the fact that having huge numbers of PC games could have a detrimental effect on console sales and console licensing revenues. The Amiga was probably the last computer that stood entirely face to face with consoles in a gaming context and I miss those days. Apart from some annoying disk swapping, the Amiga was a very easy to use system for games and was wonderful as a gaming system that could be a fully functional computer too. Maybe Steam OS will be a positive step in making the PC a little more like the Amiga for gaming.
