Im setting up a Masterclass blog today and I remembered something that I want to pass along... If you want to run a class or membership site or anything where people need to log-in to access paid content, you do NOT need to spend a ton of money or try to go all super high-tech. I made that mistake once. Spent like $400 on all kinds of flashy kit, only to crash and burn after like 2 days trying to make it all work. Save yourself the money and the hassle. Just do a simple WP install on any domain you have, call the directory members or whatever, and use a free theme like Weaver II, which is very flexible and looks nice. There are all kinds of membership plugins out there for WP, but try one thats comparatively inexpensive and easy to learn to use. I use Jason Fladliens WP Member Champ ($97), but you can go even cheaper for the same kind of product by going with Robert Planks Member Genius ($27 for one site). There are free options, too, but those 2 paid solutions are both very easy to learn. Im no techie, and I was able to learn both in under an hour. K.I.S.S. and remember that the important thing is great content, not how its packaged!
