Im sitting on my loveseat with my furbabies around me writing a grocery list and talking on the phone with a friend from work when I hear a terrible thud and the sound of an injured dog. A beautiful black lab puppy (probably 6 months old) ran out in front of a woman driving a jeep and she couldnt stop soon enough and hit the little guy. I ran out my door and saw that the little guy crawled over to his owners home and lay down on the sidewalk. Running over to see if I could help (after I had called the police for assistance) and as he lay there trying to breath we could all see that he was about to pass on. Silly me Im sitting on the sidewalk talking to this little guy like he is mine and telling him its ok to go to the Rainbow Bridge he looked at me one more time and passed. It was probably one of the saddest things I have ever seen. The lady felt so bad and was crying along with me. The owner was beside himself with having to tell his little girl when she got home from school that her beloved furbaby had passed away when only a short time ago she had to bury her Mother. Thankfully the Uniontown City Police understood that it was an accident and that the little guy got out of the house and that no charges will be filed against either the owner of the dog or the driver. Wanting to bury the dog in his back yard he was told that he was not allowed due to sanitary issues so I called my vet, Dr Shepard, who said he would help the man out and not charge him anything. Accidents happen but I never ever want to hear or experience another one like this again. My heart is breaking for this poor littlle dog and especially for the little girl who no longer with have her faithful and loving companion anymore.
