Im still amused that, after years and years of new studies, revolutionary training ideas, systems that were meant to change the way we view exercise, and all the back and forth on high volume, low volume, daily undulating periodization, linear periodization, concurrent periodization, HIIT, LISS.... all the elite athletes in most strength and endurance sports still train more or less exactly the way they did twenty years ago. Sure there have been changes in how data is gathered or how recovery is monitored (hell, elite cycling teams training camps look like NASAs C&C center), yet the basic tenet of kick your ass a little more today than you did yesterday still seems to hold true. Amazing how that works.
