Im still finding my feelings for Frozen to be highly conflicted. I have a tendency to get emotional when a movie or TV series touches me and I will admit that Frozen hit me a couple of times, but I think for the most part that is far more due to the strong writing and music the movie presented me with. When I really look at the visuals, though, I cant help but feel that if Walt were still around today, he would have been deeply disappointed in the visual quality of the film. In many ways, its a step backwards from Pixars movies and even Disneys previous 3D films. I see them trample on a few of the twelve principles in the film and it just makes me wonder how much of it is because the 3D animation industry is inherently flawed in a way that sacrifices artistry for more cold and mechanical precision and how much of it comes for the new studio system which doesnt allow for the fostering of in house talent, favoring the bottom line over creating a stable of reliable and well-trained artists.
