Im sure Doug will chime in with something epic and poetic, but here are my feelings about the awesomeness on display today at Stanford! First, I was impressed by the focus and determination by all 14 of our racers today. If they were intimidated by the hugeness of the stage today, it didnt show. The ready-for-anything attitudes on display today made me so proud. My advice to them was to make the race happen (as opposed to letting the race happen) -- and that is exactly what I saw! Our Panthers were engaged in the process of racing, making moves, fighting the packs and the terrain. It was just awesome to see! While everyone ran races to be proud of, I would just like to give a few shout-outs: Molly Kozlowski was our #5 runner today, despite finding out at 9 pm last night that she was even racing! (And not being rested either!) Delaney White crushed the 19 minute barrier with an 18:33, 4th in the D2 race. No Panther has ever been faster on this version of the Stanford course. Justin Thurman shed his Stanford curse through sheer grit and determination. His final 200 meters were absolutely jaw-dropping! Daniel Pride ran the fastest ever time by a Panther Sophomore: 15:58, for 11th place. I told him afterwards that this was his Big Boy race. He has officially arrived. Thanks for an awesome day!
