Im sure most people are getting overwhelmed by this but her solution may not be effective. 1. Death penalty wont contain the crime, better enforcement should. 2. Education, at the very basic institutions will, i.e., at home first and school equally. Respect for humans and humanity must be instilled in kids and worked upon till they grow up enough to have kids and is further carried out in perpetuity. Respect for women is the need of the hour and our existence. 3. Most of such crimes are committed by people belonging to downtrodden or poor families or people with new money and secular power/stronghold. Eradicating that problem will take time. 4. Better value education is what we need to work on. At home, society, school, places of work. We need to build stronger human chains, networks where we communicate,, share and spread values, both vertically and horizontally. Not based on religion, but humanity. 5. This is a social and psychological issue which needs to be understood, dealt with and solved with better understanding of sociology and social psychology and surely through self education and sound initiatives. This is way above vote bank politics. This would take time.. Years or maybe decades.. But that is only how our society would evolve. I may not possibly understand even a tenth of the trauma that is expressed in her letter, but we do need to be careful with and about our women. And yes, the recipients of her letter are men with social impact and can begin contributing from their respective positions in society.
