Im thinking about this whole Arsenal thing and yeah, it has been cool over the years and a lot of fun. I dont regret a moment of it. I look forward to the future and, if the LORD wills, doing more music that will bring GOD glory. But heres the thing: I LOVE the present; living in the here and now. I love my family. I love watching my daughter grow into a lovely young lady. I love the depth of love my husband and I share and how it grows deeper every day. I dont live life in the past and I dont try to regain those past triumphs because if I did that, I would miss all the things the LORD has for me today. I would miss all the time my family and I spend together. I would sacrifice my loved ones just to feed my own ego and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that is NOT Gods will. I have sadly watched so many of my friends holding on to the past, trying to recapture the rock n roll status they once had (or think they had), trying to feed their own egos, while their children grow up and their spouses stand watching, all the while sacrificing their dad/husbands full attention, which should be his priority, his first God given responsibility. The result can be an eternal tragedy. The world tells us you can have it all. This is a fallacy. Someone always pays a price for such self centered egotism and sadly it is almost always the children and the spouses. Not to mention the embarrassment old rockers bring upon their family and friends trying to convince themselves and others that they still have it. They dont. Theyre older and there is no camouflaging it. It shows. Its cooler to accept that then to try and act and dress like theyre something Theyre not ~ and that is young. Theyre not young anymore. Its time to step aside and support the new, younger musicians. That doesnt mean they cant mentor. That doesnt mean they cant do music, if that is what the LORD wills, but stop embarrassing yourselves and making others around you uncomfortable by forcing them to say youre cool when deep down their thinking something else.
