Im thinking back to the Memorial Day of 1968. It must have been a rough time for my parents as well as us kids. I was only 10, so I barely remember my emotions, except I was very sad. You see, around the 8th of May, 68, my parents first got a telegram saying that Harvey was missing in action. We didnt know whether he was dead or alive. About a week later around the May 15th or so, two Army men came to our house bringing the terrible news that we had already seemed to know. We were told that he died of small arm fire. Why he was missing in action at first? Well back then, we never knew why he had a closed casket. We knew something must have happened to his body. It took 45 years to find out why, but I did. I will not disclosed the details here but it wasnt pleasant. We buried Harvey around Memorial Day of 1968.
