Im thinking that the best way to generate tax revenue for a municipality is to increase the tax base by recruiting jobs and industry and improving efficiency. Not adding a sales tax. Generally sales taxes burden the poor and the working class disproportionately. How about we offer incentives to bring in businesses and create good paying jobs to increase tax revenue? I support our police and firefighter and appreciate them, but am also sensitive to the plight of the overworked and underpaid working class. What would incentivize people come to shop in Harrison with increased taxes? And why would a retail business want to move in to an area with equal or higher taxes than the surrounding areas? I understand that we have lower taxes than some of our neighbors. Lets keep it that way and elect officials with passion and creativity to do more with less and create the most favorable business environment in the area.
