Im tired of hearing people say their life isnt turning out the way theyd planned it, as if life was something you planned, like a bad melodrama, hitting every plot point so as to deliver yourself to the one happy ending youd rehearsed at some time and place you can no longer quite remember, as if you were some hapless actor that had assiduously memorized your part only to discover your strutting abruptly interrupted mid-line by some invisible director that has re-written large chunks of the material without telling you. What a dumb metaphor - but its the sort we live our lives by.
