Im very excited that tomorrow a statue that the American Institute for Roman Culture unearthed during the Villa delle Vignacce dig excavation in 2009 will be put on permanent public display in the very old (oldest public museum!) Capitoline Museums. Another feather in the cap (as we work on the final publication)- I cant wait to see it restored- after 6 years! If you are in town, come to the presentation conference. The statue is of Marsyas- famous flayed by Apollo after losing a music contest against Apollo. This is one of the best preserved examples of this type.
