Im very happy that you are reading this. I strongly believe that there is no situation beyond the curative capacity of God. So, there is nothing happening to you now that God cannot solve. 1Cor 10:13: No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. Keeping it real though, being occasionally depressed is almost normal. It is depressing to pursue a dream and not get it, it is very depressing to lose a loved one, it is depressing when someone dear to ones heart walks away from ones life, it is depressing to lose money in an investment, it depresing to fail an examination, in summary; every negative experience holds the tendency of bringing about depression. Depressions are in levels and categories, while some depression will not lead to any medical issue, some will lead to head ache, some even result in psychological imbalance and some degenerate into negative habits like smoking, drinking... One thing I have come to realise about depression is that depressions are often worse than the very factor that led to it. Depression often destroys ones hope, it makes bends look like dead ends. It prevents one from taking further actions, depression often pushes one to take hasty detrimental decisions and the truth is that what becomes of ones are essentially products of his/her actions and decisions. Depressions are often momentary, but their outcomes often last for a lifetime. Depression blurs one from seeing the reality, it minimises the positve and maximises the negative. No one can become anything of significant with a wrong perspective about live. Thus, no one must remain in a state of depression for too long. So, what must you do when you find yourself in depression? The word of God is very clear about this; It says to renew your mind constantly. Eph: 4: 23 And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude], Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. What Paul was saying in this letter is that you dont have to see things from the perspective of people around you, by the judgement of friends, by what has happened... but by the renewal of your mind. The exercise of renewing your mind is both curative and preventive. It will lighten up your way out of the tunnel and it will prevent you from getting back into it. So, how do you renew your mins; 1. Go back into the word of God Eph: 1:12-14 So that we who first hoped in Christ [who first put our confidence in Him have been destined and appointed to] live for the praise of His glory! 13In Him you also who have heard the Word of Truth, the glad tidings (Gospel) of your salvation, and have believed in and adhered to and relied on Him, were stamped with the seal of the long-promised Holy Spirit. 14That [Spirit] is the guarantee of our inheritance [the firstfruits, the pledge and foretaste, the down payment on our heritage], in anticipation of its full redemption and our acquiring [complete] possession of it--to the praise of His glory. 2. Ask the Holy Spirit for help Psalm 55:22 Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail) John 14:26-27 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
