Im *very* proud of our Seattle neighbors!!! We *desperately* need just as strong an action or better here in Northern California -- Tessoro is one of the worst refineries in the San Francisco Bay Area as far as safety, fire and explosion record is concerned -- and our rail system is *currently* transporting the more dangerous crude oil on older tank cars unsatisfactory for the purpose! We need it stopped. Our problems are just as bad or worse than Seattles. Weve had the catastrophic Dunsmuir toxic spill -- that loop is extremely hazardous to rail transit. Weve got the extremely vulnerable and dangerous Feather River Canyon both of these routes following waterways that feed into the ultra-fragile and endangered Sacramento River Delta which itself has rail transit with the unsatisfactory oil tank cars planned by multiple routes. ...not to mention the urban explosive danger to large cities as well as small towns. A very real potentially catastrophic environmental danger -- also potentially catastrophic explosive danger -- the possibility easily, of both together! ...and trained & equipped safety crews are *not* in proper locations for these particular vulnerabilities to render effective emergency response or aid! NO!! STOP THE DANGEROUS CRUDE OIL TRANSPORT !!! ...at the very least until were ready with: 1) Proper study and planning. 2) Provisioning, training and locating adequate emergency response teams to appropriate areas. 3) Assurance that railways will use oil tank cars meeting the best possible safety standards. 4) Were *ready* to inspect, insure and enforce all of the above -- and that none of the planning or studies for planning for any of the above are done by persons or entities having even a possible appearance of a conflict of interest unlike previous studies done by persons often doing studies commissioned by railway affiliated entities or associations.
