Im very sorry for what happened to Mrs. Giffords. Truly, I am. But I also wish shed sit down and stop pretending her brutal attack gives her moral authority to declare absolute solutions to cultural problems. As a woman that has defended myself twice with a firearm and always carries concealed, Giffords tendency to victimize women and not empower them really bothers me. The world is a violent place, yet American gun ownership is at all-time highs and gun crime at 40-year lows. The fastest demographic of new gun owners are women. Revisiting laws preventing CONVICTED stalkers from temporary gun ownership must be debated with statistics facts and passed at the state level, not the federal level. This looks like an excuse to revisit the gun show loophole, however, which is hardly the problem. Criminals get illegal guns from the streets more than they do convention centers and until proven otherwise, please stop. Education, self-defense, empowerment and confidence are what resources women need, not more stupid laws.
