Im writing a paper to be presented to Queens Park called The Horror Stories of the 1990s Mike Harris Governments budget cuts to the disabled, seniors care facilities, unemployed and the poor. I was a Developmental Service Worker in the 1980s and 1990s, working with special needs people and seniors, and saw first hand the suffering these cuts did to people while government salaries across the board increased and continued to increase while cuts to the poor and the minimum wage have remained stagnant. Since that time, I have retrained for investigate journalism and am wanting to write this story. If you have any horror stories of how these budget cuts affected you, a friend, or loved one, please share them with me so we can collect them in one paper to present to the Liberal Party. I also want to hear how you are struggling to get by financially and what these proposed cuts will mean for you? The cost of rent and food in Ontario is high and it is a known fact that people on disability, welfare, seniors, and the unemployed are really struggling to make ends meet. Tell all of your friends as well. The Ontario government is NOT going to balance their colossal financial mistakes on the backs of the disabled and the poor this time around.
