Im writing this post as many of my family and dear friends have either been hit with some form of cancer or a dear family member or friend that has ... 2 weeks ago our father was DX with a 5 cm tumor in his left upper lobe... All of us sitting in the Doctors office went numb... This Doctor was a pulmonary doctor in Sebastian which I did not know. His recommendation was Surgery and right away... I spoke up as he recommended his lung surgeon that practices in both Melbourne and Sebastian... I new of this surgeon but to be honest that was all I knew.... I spoke up and said I would like our Cardiac /thorac/heart surgeon Dr Malias to take care of him... I said I did not know the surgeon team you are recommending nor your ICU but I do know ours and since I work at Indian River Medical Center I kn ow he will get the best care... Dr Malias meet with our dad and postponed his vacation to get the ball rolling fot the past week he has under go major testing and has past. Tomorrow is his last day of test and Friday September 5 he is scheduled for surgery to remove the tumor. Cancer is the most negative disease I have had encounter sadly you have to fight it with the most of negative of treatments. The best thing is our dad has the most positive attitudes I have ever know.. That right there is half the battle Our dad is very strong and has the most positive outlook one could ever have. Both my sister and I support our dad but I kid you not it has hit us hard so folks if you smoke or around those that smoke please be careful cancer shows no favorites even after my dad quite 15 years ago it still crept up on him ...
