Imagine Imagine yourself standing in the presence of the almighty creator, who has total power over your eternal future. He is about to pass judgment upon you. Imagine what you will say when you are asked if you have accepted Jesus Christ as the son of God during your time on earth. You will know that God is real, and that you have rejected the gift that he has offered to you. You will know that you have hated and ignored Jesus Christ for your entire lifetime, but really can’t explain why. You will know that God knows your every thought, and so you are unable to claim ignorance. Imagine the helplessness that you will feel when God opens the book of life, at the final judgment, and tells you that your name cannot be found. You may say that you have done many good things during your lifetime, and that you are really a good person, so you deserve to enter heaven. God shows you that your name has been blotted out of the book of Life. Then he opens the other books. The books of works, and he finds your name written there. What will you think when he informs you that the payment for your sin is death, and that all of your good works do not add up to death, and that no sin is allowed into Heaven? How will you react when he says his son Jesus Christ became your substitute for death, so that you may receive a pardon from eternal condemnation, and since you have rejected him, your sins were not forgiven? He declares to you that now you must pay the price of sin yourself. He reminds you that Jesus suffered and died for you, so that you could live in Heaven with him for eternity, but because of your hatred of him, you refused to return that love. How will you feel when Jesus Christ says to you, “I never knew you, depart from me, ye that work iniquity” and you are swept away to a place called the outer darkness, where there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth in the fiery pits of the lake of fire, a place where you will be separated from God, and live with Satan and his demons for all of eternity, a place where all evil will be contained, and there will be nothing good. You will know that, at this judgment, God is separating good from evil, the righteous from the unrighteous, believers from unbelievers, the redeemed from the unredeemed, once and for all, and your arrogance has prevented you from accepting and loving God’s uniquely born Son. You hear other people simply stating that they have accepted the person and work of their Lord and savior Jesus Christ. God finds their name in the book of life, and allows them to enter his kingdom. You will know that God offered you a way of escape, and told you of the consequences if you rejected his Son. You will know that it was your choice, and you had your whole lifetime to make one simple decision, but just couldn’t bring yourself to love the one who freely gave his life for you. As you see your family and friends, and even people that you have always considered yourself superior to, ascending to the gates of Heaven, you will suddenly realize your eternal fate, and there will be no one to help you. Alone, forgotten and in disbelief, you will scream, and beg for mercy. In total darkness, you will hear the distant and lonely cries of others who have rejected the savior, but then it will be too late. You have rejected the pardon. The time for mercy has past. The Lord is gone. The gavel has fallen. The final judgment is over, and you have been condemned forever. “He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot his name out of the book of Life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.” Revelation 3:5. “For whatsoever is born of God overcomenth the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” 1 John 5:4-5...
