Imagine a friend has left you a card. Because you are distracted - TopicsExpress

Imagine a friend has left you a card. Because you are distracted and physically drained, you quickly pick it up, read it and put it down. You think to yourself, “Oh, that was nice!” as you go about your day. You even send a short text message thanking them. Weeks go by and a great storm arises in your life and you find yourself offended and hurt, forgetting everything your friend shared in the card. The enemy speaks in your ear causing you to doubt their love for you. After a while, you just happen to find the card. The one you were too distracted to pay any real attention to. This time you read it giving it your undivided attention, and for the first time, in what feels like a long time, you can see their heart. A flood of emotions come rushing in as you are now assured that your friend loves you. This is a perfect mirror of our relationship with God. So often we find ourselves reading His Word with distracted minds, sending up a half-hearted, “Thank You Lord” as we go about our busy lives. Then when storms arise and challenges come, we are hurt and offended wondering if God loves us and if He really cares. That is when we must go to His Word and read it again and again. This time giving it our full and undivided attention. God wants us to be convinced of His love for us, refusing to believe any lie from the enemy that would cause us to think otherwise. He calls you friend and loves you more than you’ll ever know. Forgive me, Lord, for ever doubting Your love for me!!!!
