Morning Market Commentary: Football Club Revenues ..Manchester United’s lack of form is not limited to the pitch this season as a surge in popularity of German Rival Bayern Munich pushed that club’s revenues just above that of the Red Devils to take third place amongst the worlds super football clubs. ...Real Madrid and Barcelona both maintained their top two slots respectively with little change in terms of revenue from the prior season. Real Madrid managed once more to exceed €500 million from various sources such as Match day takings, Broadcasting and Commercial rights. This marked the ninth consecutive year that Spanish giants Real Madrid have taken the top slot in terms of revenue, despite not winning the silverware last season. Real is able to leverage the popularity of superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo into big money both domestically and internationally. Barcelona of course has their beloved Argentinian playmaker Lionel Messi who can also generate huge sums for the club and has helped the team take out the Spanish league title four times in the last five years. Bayern Munich came around on the outside with a burst of pace and due to a 17 percent increase in revenues was able to pip the Red Devils on the line to take third spot from a revenue perspective. This was the first time United has slipped out of the top three in 17 years... CEO Angus Geddes
