Imagine this? How many pounds of food could we collect if every family who is financially able brought one or two items to Mass each weekend to donate to SVDP? 100#? 200# or more? The pantry could really use this type of assistance at this time. We received a 3550# food order from the Greater Lansing Food Bank on Monday and yet we are finding it necessary to purchase food that the food bank does not carry. On average we are spending an additional $500 a week on food. With unemployment benefits not being extended as yet and the recent decrease in food stamps, we are serving more and more families each week. We served 29 families just over the course of the last week! As a result, we are running low on the following items: BBQ sauce, ketchup, pancake syrup, hamburger helper, soft tortilla shells, refried beans, taco dinners, sugar, vegetable oil, ramen noodles, gravy, canned tuna, canned peaches and pears; shampoo, bath soap, dish soap, laundry soap and toilet paper. Note that many of these items will be part of the 10 for 10 with the 11th item free starting this Sunday at Meijer. Please consider picking up a few of these items to donate to SVDP. Please consider bringing one or two items to Mass this weekend to help fill up our shelves. Thanks so much for your continued support and willingness to help those in need in our community! Please spread the word by liking this post and/or sharing it with your Facebook friends. Lets see how much food we can get donated this weekend!
