Imagine this, if you will: you have a house with an extra room. A disadvantaged family asks to rent the room from you. You dont need the money, but you see they are struggling so you agree and they move in. Then, they start making demands of you. Stop putting up Christmas decorations, they say. We dont believe in Christmas. Also, that American flag in your yard? Were not from America, so, were offended. Take it down. And if you could, start speaking OUR native language in your house at least as much as you speak English, so we feel more welcome. How long would you stand for this? How long do we, as Americans, have to stand for us gradually losing our cultural identity as other cultures continue to become part of ours? And thats the thing: no one wants to ban any culture. You are more than free to worship as you want, to speak the language you want, to celebrate the holidays you want. Thats what America is built on. Just do NOT demand that we as Americans change our culture to better fit yours. YOU came HERE. YOU adapt - we dont.
