Imam Husseins(as) last will to his son Imam Sajjad(as) - Imam Hussein ended up alone, he looked at the tents of his brothers to see them empty. He then looked at the tents of the sons of Aqeel and they were empty. Then he looked at the tents of the companions and saw no one. Thus he started saying There is neither way nor power but with Allah frequently. Then he went to the tents of the women and entered the tent of his son Zain Al-Abideen (as) and saw him laying on a thin mattress while Sayyeda Zainab (sa) was nursing him. When Ali Bin Al-Hussein (as) saw his father he wanted to stand but his illness prevented him. Imam Sajjad (as) : (said to his aunt Zainab) Give me a hand. The son of the Messenger of Allah (sawa) came to us. Sayyeda Zainab (sa) sat behind him and held him to her chest.” Imam Hussein (as) : asked him about his sickness and how he was feeling. Imam Sajjad (as) : reply was always Thanks be to Allah. Imam Sajjad (as): O father, what happened with you and those hypocrites today? Imam Hussein (as): Son, the devil controls them. He made them forget Allah. The war started between us and them and the soil was watered by our and their blood. Imam Sajjad (as): Father, where is Al-Abbas my uncle? Sayyeda Zainab (sa) suppressed her tears and sighs when she heard the question then she looked to her brother to see how will he answer his son as Hussein (as) didn’t tell him about the martyrdom of Al-Abbas so that his sickness doesn’t exacerbate. Imam Hussein (as): Son, you uncle was killed. They cut off his hands by the river. Imam Sajjad (as): cried a lot till he passed out. When he woke up he started asking about his uncles one by one and Al-Hussein’s answer was: “Killed”. Imam Sajjad (as): Where is my brother Ali, where is Habeeb bin Moudhaher, Muslim bin Awsaja, Zuheir bin Al-Qain? Imam Hussein (as) : Son, know that among these tents there is no living man but me and you. All whom you are asking about are dead laying on the ground. Imam Sajjad (as) cried a lot and then said: O Aunt Zainab, give me a sword and a stick. Imam Hussein (as): “What for?” Imam Sajjad (as): “The stick to aid me to stand and the sword to defend the son of the Messenger of Allah (sawa). Life is worth nothing after him.” Imam Hussein (as): stopped him and held him to his chest “Son, you are the most righteous son of mine and the best one among my household. You are my successor over these women and babies. They are here strangers, orphans and overwhelmed with the calamities of this time and the gloating of the enemies. Silence them if they cry. Be there for them with tender words when they feel lonely. You are the only man left for them to aid them in their grief. Let them hug you and you hug them. Let them cry for you and you cry for them.” Imam Hussein (as): raised the hand of his son Ali and said in a loud voice: O Zainab, Um Kulthoum, Sukaina, Ruqaya, Fatima. Listen to my words and know that this son of mine is my successor and he is an Imam who should be obeyed Imam Hussein (as): My son, pass my greetings and peace to my followers and say to them: My father was killed being a stranger so mourn him and he passed away being a martyr so cry over him.
