Imelda also organized the Nutrition Center of the Philippines (NCP). The NCP received donations from foreign countries and institutions, including New Zealand, UNICEF (United Nations International Children & Educational Fund), WHO (World Health Organization), USAID (the United States Aid for International Development), and local drug manufacturers such as Abbott Laboratories, Bristol Myers, and Mead Johnson. Donations from these groups amounted to $6 million. Another $4.2 million donation to the NCP was received from two Middle Eastern countries. According to NCP employees, parts of these donations, especially those which came from the Middle East, were diverted to Imeldas personal account in London and were later used to buy diamonds. NCP employees also raised questions regarding the wealth of Florentino Solon, the Marcos Minister of Health and NCP director. When he headed NCP in 1976 his statement of assets and liabilities indicated that he had a net worth of $7,400. By the time the Marcos regime ended in 1986, he owned two houses at Merville Subdivision, a lot in the Ayala Alabang Subdivision, two houses in Cebu City and the Argao Beach Resort in Cebu. - Ricardo Manapat, Some Are Smarter Than Others
