I took my mate Shane out fishing yesterday. (You may remember him from the fox photo I shared a few weeks back). Shane is a seriously good shooter, but is new to the world of trout fishing in streams. I took him out yesterday for his first ever attempt at catching wild trout in a small mountain stream. He caught his first ever trout, a small rainbow of around 23-25cm early yesterday morning using a wichety grub as bait. A bit later on he caught his second ever stream trout, another rainbow. This one was around 32-33cm and was caught using a W.A.S.P. coloured Metalhead soft plastic. I lent him my brand new fishing glasses to have a look through and he caught the trout straight away as soon as he put them on. Its pretty safe to say that Shane is a converted trout fisherman and is now looking forward to the season re-opening in September!
