Immediate past Information Minister, Labaran Maku, is announced to have defected to APGA in order to realise his ambition of contesting the Gubernatorial election in his home state, Nassarawa. It will be recalled that the diminutive politician failed to win the primary conducted by his erstwhile party, the PDP some days back, thus necessitating his decision to try his luck elsewhere albeit claims that the PDP primary was far from being free and fair. Nawa oooo, you would say. Is it not the same Labaran Maku that was more like the Chief Publicist of the present PDP led federal government, just a few months ago? Imagine APGA in the North! Not even sure the party has any known structure in the whole of Northern Nigeria . Well, you cant blame the poor man, the next feasible or visible party, APC, has already concluded its primaries. So, not much of an option is available to him. The Yorubas will say ti a ba tori isu je epo, a tori epo je isu. If you dont because of yam take palm oil, you may as well because of palm oil take yam. Meaning, if the desired is not available, the available becomes the desired. Hhhm, Nigerias politicians and their insatiable quest for power. Now, what can such a desperate man offer his beleaguered people? Your guess is as good as mine.
