Immediate press release, 03 December 2013 ANCYL- The caricatures against Democracy and Freedom President Nelson Mandela, Walter Sisulu, OR Tambo and Anton Lembede, to mention only a few, would be ashamed of what the ANCYL has disintegrated into. A circuitous shade of what it was, unrealistically and a re-usable entity at the hands of the ANC cadres that wants to trample on the democracy the Mandelas and Sisulus fought for. The attack on the Public Protector by the ANCYL yesterday, (02 December 2013), is nothing but a cheap shot by the ANCYL to gain cheap points with the President of the ANC who was implicated in the Nkandla scandals of stealing millions of rands which could have been used to help in the fight against poverty. COPEYM noted the statement that was issued by Bandile Masuku of the ANCYL and we condemn his attack on the Public Protector with unfounded accusations. Masuku accuses the Public Protector of leaking the Nkandlagate report to the media; this is not only slander by the ANCYL but also tarnishes the image that Public Protector’s office holds. It is known that the Public Protector has never had the support from the ANC as she has had to investigate many cronies within the ANC and found many of the guilty of corrupt behaviour and this must have not bode well with the ANCYL when the head of the ANC is also found guilty of corrupt behaviour. The ANCYL’s stance is that of a lost child who knows nothing but criminal activity because he learns from the parent. They cannot distinguish the right from the wrong having learned that attacking the people that do well in this country is commendable as it is done by their elderly in the ANC. The Public Protector has had, for many instances, to fight hard to stay in her position. She had to fend for herself against the likes of ANC Chief Whips, pseudo-Communist Blade Nzimande, the Security Cluster ministers and even her own (former) deputy Mamiki Shai who wanted her removed for investigating ANC cadres who were involved incorrupt activities. The Security Cluster ministers and their departments could have easily leaked the report to the media so as to discredit the Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela because she has been able to establish that a government security project, funded from the public purse for Nkandla, came to include: •The construction of new residences for members of the extended Zuma family •The construction of a large amphitheatre •The construction of a cattle kraal, a chicken coop, and a special culvert for cattle. The Congress of the People Youth Movement will continue standing up against corruption which is why we will always stand for the Public Protector and say to the ANC, Hands Off the Public Protector! South Africans need to stand and help defend the Public Protector in her stance to ensure that the Public is protected from unscrupulous behaviour as exhibited by those who are allergic to the truth like the Blade Nzimande and his cronies. We need to urge the government to pledge more funds and support for the Public Protector to continue working efficiently and ensure that all South Africans can enjoy the benefits of freedom and democracy in our Country.
