Imo PDP Condemns Okorochas denial of SURE-P Programme. ....Decries the Hate campaign against the FG. The Imo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has condemned the APCs Governor of Imo State, Gov. Rochas Anayo Okorocha over what it described as the deliberate unwillingness of Okorochas Administration to inform Imo people that what he purportedly launched as 25,000 youth employment scheme was the Imo State Share of a programme of the president Dr. Goodluck Jonathan Administration under the Subsidy Reinvestment Programme, other wise called SURE-P. The party accused the governor of hiding the federal governments programme out of the public knowledge in order to blackmail her of not doing anything in the state. According to a statement signed by the partys Acting State publicity secretary, Chief Enyinna Onuegbu KSC who opined that The Funds allocated to Imo State over the years and other benefits accruable under the SURE-P Sub-head have been deliberately kept out of the knowledge of Imo people by the Okorochas Administration just like the monthly Federation Statutory Allocation to our 27 LGAs, the statement said. The statement went further to recall that in the wake of the flood disaster of 2012 in Oguta and Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Areas, that the federal Government released the sum of N400 million to ameliorate the sufferings of the affected indigenes to the Okorocha Administration. That the handling of the huge fund became a disaster instead of distributing them to the affected communities, almost the entire money got lost to confusing committees, bureaucracy and some phony claims to have spent the money in building community halls for the owners of the money by the state government as against the federal governments policy. The party also recalled that under the federal government of President Goodluck Jonathan, several federal government projects has been sited in Imo state like the wonderful structures within the federal medical centre in Owerri, the great structural improvements and building projects within the Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education also in Owerri, the ongoing waste recycling plant at Ilile in Ohaji/Egbema Local government; the Ongoing dualization of the Owerri /Elele Road; Aba Owerri Road; The completed Owerri/Onitsha Road; the Ongoing Isinnweke/Onicha Uboma Road etc as facilitated by Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha and many other projects and in addition to several federal government appointments offered to Imo indigenes. The party was surprised that inspite of all these federal government presence in the state, instead of the governor to commend the efforts, the Okorochas Administration deliberately blacklists the news of the achievements of president Goodluck Jonathan in Imo State to promote and spread hatred against the federal government. The party expressed worry over the governors unconscious termination of the employment of 10,000 Imo youths employed through the due civil service process under the former governor Ikedi Ohakims Administration. The statement condemned the governors refusal to recall the workers back but would rather waste the scarce resources of Imo people in mounting litigation costs and berates the governors brazen acts to fool Imo people again by renaming the SURE-P relief employment scheme as its own with the 25,000 jobs camouflage. The statement urged the traumatised Imo population to ignore the usual claims of Gov. Okorocha over the relief employment scheme as same belongs to the federal governments SURE-P programme and asked Imo people to remain resolute as they shall soon overcome the maladministration of the present government
