Important. Important message to staff - police notice of telephone scams A number of people in the UK have recently fallen victim to the latest telephone scam. The scammers leave a polite voice message on your voicemail and ask you to call them back as soon as possible. Some people have been told that a family member is ill, or died or been arrested to ensure they call back. The number to call back is prefixed with 0809, 0284 or 0876. These numbers are registered in the Dominican Republic and are charged at £1,500 per minute to you. The charges afterwards can become a real nightmare. Thats because you actually DID make the call. If you complain, both your local phone company and your long distance carrier will not want to get involved and will most likely tell you that they are simply providing the billing for the foreign company. Youll end up dealing with a foreign company that argues they have done nothing wrong.
