Important Update: Regarding the Hartford Courant article on the safety of my profession, here is my take: 1.) Any injury by any professional is a tragedy and my profession, just like the medical profession has unintentional mistakes, errors, and highly unusual events - this I think we all can agree. 2.) The risk of stroke due to chiropractic treatment is rare 1 in 3 million to 1 in 11 million. That said, I do not perform the type of manipulation that has been associated with this article. 3.) Every few years, nationally there is this stroke issue that is re-hashed with no additional studies, facts, etc. My profession is misunderstood and this is the fault of my profession not clearly communicating what we offer and how we provide these services. This weakness of my profession allows people (the same people that back these articles over and over again) to have a bigger spot lite than they deserve. To push an agenda for their own personal gain. Two wrongs do not make any right, and when you compare safety record of Chiropractic to other professions, my profession should be PRAISED and envied for its safety record. Just like car insurance rates for bad drivers, bad drivers have higher rates right? RIGHT! My malpractice rates are cheaper than most peoples car insurance rates. I have low rates because I am a good doctor.
