***Important message from the Head of School on the Mayo campus***: Dear all, In consultation with the Buildings & Estates office and the President, we have decided to close the Mayo Campus building tomorrow Wed 14th due to the risk the building may pose to users of the building. Following Sunday night winds and slate loss, the roof of the building was assessed by the Building & Estates Manager. This assessment found many parts of the roof are presenting risks of losing slate during high winds. Short-term mitigation measures will be put in place to prevent risk of injury but it is not possible to do this before tomorrow. It will be done as soon as practicable. The current weather forecast for tomorrow is for winds up to 70/km. It is difficult to have accurate predictions of the timing of weather events but this is the most prudent course of action at this point. I apologise for any inconvenience caused. The build will re-open on Thursday as normal. Best Regards, Dr Deirdre Garvey Head of Centre GMIT Mayo Campus
