Important notice Please note that this facebook group called Coventry canal society has no business or charitable connection the society of the same name which was formed in 1957. This Coventry canal society does not have a facebook but do have a website. Please see thisfollowing link for their contact list. covcanalsoc.org.uk/?page_id=159 When I started our group onfacebook I did not know another Coventry canal society existed. if they had a facebook, then facebook would not have allowed the same name to be used.“We now need to change our facebook name to prevent any confusion”, but may not be allowed to do so by facebook. If we can I would like to make the following suggestion alternativenames : 1 Coventry canal association. 2 Coventry and oxford canal society. 3 Coventarian canal society. Please list your suggestion or 1,2,3 preferences in comments. If we cannot change the name, then we may have to close down the group, which I do not know how to do and suggest we leave it to facebook to do it if they want. No doubt the Coventry canal society (1957) will ask facebook to do so if they feel strongly about it or perhaps if they want to start a facebook group. May I take this opportunity to apologise to members who i may have misled and hope the group carries on especially considering the multi-talented post contributions that we get.
