Important notice to EVBJJ MEMBERS: Updates for this week and for September. 1. There will be no noon class on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday this week. (Aug.19.20, 21) Monday and Friday will have noon class as per usual. 2. Starting Next week (Monday Aug. 25) There will only be noon class on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. We have a lot of competitions coming up in Sept, Oct and Nov. I want to make sure that we all have energy (myself included). Training intensity will go through the roof starting Sept. 1. I want the noon classes to be full and we just dont have the demand or man power for 6 per week right now. We will try to get back to the full-time noon schedule when the demand is there and the competition season slows down. If there is ever a time that you want to go train and the gym is closed you can always call one of the key holders Wally, Joe, Berg, Art or Eric to open the door if they are available. 3. Our kids program has officially started!! I have never seen Eric teach kids so I didnt know what to expect. I was blown away. I cant wait to see what he can do with Tiagos game! Please if you know anyone that has kids let them know that we are committed to making the best juvenile team in the city. Kids classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5pm and Saturdays at 10am 4. As I mentioned above East Van BJJ will be participating in several upcoming tournaments. Here is a list of what is coming up. Training for the next few months will be very hard so if you are consistent you will be ready to compete. That is a guarantee. September 20- NAGA gi and nogi. Portland Oregon. So far I know that Ivan, Amar, Hector, Brodie and Wally will be there. Anyone else?? October 4- Vancouver Championships. Cant miss this one guys. Definitely a great opportunity to compete locally. Very well run event and great vibes. October 25- IBJJF Seattle. I know that our school with have a huge group out for this one. Also this is a chance to help put BCBJJ on the map. I know lots of schools from BC will be there. Great opportunity to pick up an IBJJF medal and rep team BC. November 1- IBJJF MASTERS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. I think this will be the biggest international presence that EAST VAN BJJ has ever had at a tournament. Joe, Amar, Hector, Roz, Wally, Ivan, JOE!, Jane, Berg and some more I cant remember are for sure going so far. Omar is on the fence. This tournament is only for competitors over the age of 30. So all of you old foggies are invited to join us. Flight is aprox $350 and hotel will be cheap. We will have a huge crew and it will be a blast. Save your pennies for this one. Eric and Jane will also be doing the Abu Dhabi pro trial. Ask them for dates and details if you are interested. 5. I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate Eric, Omar and Amar on their outstanding efforts lately. You guys are doing big things. Thanks for leading the way and showing us how its done. Also thanks to Art and Joe for covering this week for me. I really needed a break. I will be back strong and ready for what is to come. Cant thank you guys enough! Competing is fun guys. Its the best way to learn and it brings our team together. There is absolutely no pressure at all to win. Win or loose we will enjoy the experience and grow as individuals and as a team. If you are thinking about giving it a try.. Now is the time. Dont think twice. You are part of a talented team. We are competitors. You have nothing to loose. Get ready..
