In 1865 John Bryan Bowman merged his Kentucky University with the states Agricultural and Mechanical College. This institution had its agricultural and mechanical campuses on the Woodlands and Ashland farms. Bowman had his office and the administrative office in mansion along with a museum. When KU and A & M split in 1878, A&M moved to its current location on the old city fairground. It is now a sprawling campus with 35,000 students. We now know it as the University of Kentucky. Ashland is proud to be the ancestral home of the Big Blue Nation! GO CATS!!!! Bring home #9!!!!!
