In 1889, the year that Washington became a state, public high school education started in Walla Walla. It consisted of only twelve students and now over 1,900. This week is Walla Walla High Schools Homecoming festivities with tonights big game and ending tomorrow with the Homecoming dance. Since Wa-Hi Homecoming began, numerous festivities have played out over the years. Parades, floats, serpentine down Main Street, bonfires, King and Queen, and even Powder Puff football which started with the class of 1972 and still remains.
