In 1967, Dr. William E. Moore, Chemistry Professor at Southern University, became the first to receive a doctorate in physical biochemistry. On June 2, 2006, the Board of Trustees for Purdue University approved a professorship (THE WILLIAM E.MOORE DISTINGUISHED PROFESSOR OF EARTH AND ATMOSPHERIC SCENCE AND CHEMISTRY) in his honor. He was also the first African American to receive a doctorate from the Universities College of Science. We thank you Dr. White for bringing such a gem to S.U. #ThisisJaguarPride
