In 1994 at the age of 34 I retrieved my children who had been kidnapped and subsequently hidden by my evil ex husband and although my every waking thought had been focused on retrieving them, the reality of caring for them finacially was hampered by his refusal to then pay child support. I went back to school at Schenectady county community college in New York and for the next 2and a half years was on the presidents list thats straight As.(one semester I got a b and only made the deans list). While working and going to school...pre computers all work done by hand. My children and I were able to make it work because when I graduated with honors I also had the ability to work in many places that the knowledge not the degree opened the doors. I have been struggling to open my own place but when I do, I know I will succeed because of what I learned while getting my associate degree of occupational studies in culinary arts. Community college keep me going and I will never be more grateful or proud of my time there. And it was free with pell grants and scholarships. I support Community college for all!
