In 2010, the five Koch employees on SCOTUS with their Citizens United ruling opened the door. In 2012, Mitt Romney read us the sign on the door: “Corporations are people, my friend.” Now, in 2014, the five Koch employees have now anointed the “personages” of closely-held, for-profit multibillion dollar corporations (Hobby Lobby, Koch Brothers, etc.) with Constitutionally-protected religious beliefs. ’Any suggestion that for-profit corporations are incapable of exercising religion because their purpose is simply to make money flies in the face of modern corporate law,’ [Justice Samuel] Alito wrote.” But, it was the five Koch Employees on the U.S. Supreme Court—Alito, Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, and Kenney—who WRITING what they Alito labeled as “modern corporate law”. These activist justices are legislating corporate law from the bench as surely as the Right accused the Warren Court of doing. The difference is, however, the Warren Court gave people constitutional rights that had been denied them, and also handed down decisions protecting these rights. The Roberts Court is determined to take these rights away from the many and concentrate these rights among the very few and very wealthy and powerful corporate “families”.
